TOP NISSAN CROSSOVER SUVS: A COMPREHENSIVE COMPARISON
In 2002 Nissan launched the Nissan Murano, their first crossover SUV for American drivers. Today Nissan features seven crossover SUVs, each offering its own unique driving experience. We know finding the right crossover SUV for you or your family can feel a little overwhelming. At Ingram Park Nissan, located off I-410 in northwest San Antonio, we’ve been putting Texas drivers into their dream cars for over 40 years, and it would be our pleasure to help you compare five of the most popular crossover SUV models Nissan has available.
We’re going to focus on key features of the:
- Nissan Murano
- Nissan Rogue
- Nissan Rogue Sport
- Nissan Kicks
- Nissan ARIYA
The ARIYA is the newest addition to our Nissan family and is an award-winning, fully electric vehicle.
For each vehicle, we’ll compare important information like fuel economy, cargo space, horsepower, and price, because your Nissan crossover SUV should be a true reflection of your needs and your personality. So, let’s work together to find your perfect match.
CARGO SPACE: BIG, BIGGER, BIGGEST
Crossover SUVs are popular for a variety of reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is the ample cargo and cabin space, without sacrificing the smaller footprint preferred by some drivers. If you’re looking for plenty of room for your family or your gear, you can’t go wrong with the Nissan Rogue, which boasts up to 74 cubic feet of trunk and cargo space. Just behind that is the Nissan Murano, with up to 67 cubic feet of space available.
As we continue comparing cargo space, we offer the Nissan Rogue Sport (a slightly smaller variation of the Nissan Rogue) with 61 cubic feet of cargo space, the new Nissan ARIYA with up to 59 cubic feet of trunk and cargo space, and finally, the sporty Nissan Kicks with up to 32 cubic feet of space.
Nissan understands crossover drivers are looking for plenty of space for everyday items, with the option to carry larger loads for special occasions or outdoor adventures. Of the five Nissan Crossover SUVs we’re comparing today, the biggest cargo space must go to the Nissan Rogue.
FUEL ECONOMY: DON’T WALK, DRIVE A NISSAN CROSSOVER SUV
Drivers in the San Antonio area appreciate the value of their dollar at the gas pump, which is why Nissan’s line of crossover SUVs are in high demand across South Texas. In this section, let’s explore fuel economy so you can make an informed decision about which of our crossover models makes the most sense for your budget.
At the top of the list, we can’t speak highly enough of the Nissan ARIYA. The Nissan ARIYA, launched in 2022, is an all-electric vehicle, with an average mpg of up to 111 mpg highway and 95 mpg city. The ARIYA offers a range of up to 304 miles and features various trims, providing either a 63-kWh battery or an 87-kWh battery that charges in an estimated 35 to 40 minutes. If you’re not looking for an electric vehicle, our next crossover with excellent fuel economy is the Nissan Kicks, with an estimated mpg of 31 city and 36 highway.
Nissan’s larger crossover SUVs come with an average of 30 mpg highway and 25 mpg city. The Nissan Rogue provides 30 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, the Nissan Rogue Sport offers 32 mpg highway and 28 mpg city, while Nissan’s largest crossover, the Murano, will bring you 28 mpg highway and 20 mpg city. Whatever your fuel economy needs are, Nissan has a crossover SUV that will fit your budget.
HORSEPOWER: 0 TO 60 AND THEN SOME
The power of your crossover’s engine is measured in a unit called “horsepower.” In the US, we use mechanical horsepower to measure and inform drivers of the rate at which “work” is done, specifically the output power of engines or motors. Horsepower is a great indicator of the power your crossover SUV has.
Nissan’s most powerful crossover is the ARIYA, with 389 horsepower available to drivers of this sleek newcomer to the Nissan crossover SUV lineup. The ARIYA was named Electric Vehicle of Texas in 2023 by the Texas Auto Writers Association Auto Roundup, and given the horsepower, it’s no surprise the ARIYA was awarded this prestigious title.
After the ARIYA, the next most powerful of Nissan’s crossovers is the Murano, with a 260-horsepower engine. Following the Murano are the Rogue with 201 horsepower, the Rogue Sport with 141 horsepower, and the Kicks with 122 horsepower. Each of Nissan’s crossover SUVs is designed to meet or exceed industry horsepower standards.
