Pure performance will come out of the Nissan Pure Drive Hybrid powertrain.

The all-new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid is about to change the way drivers think about SUVs. Nissan’s latest innovation will maintain its earlier model’s style, functionality, and luxury, but it will only be more efficient and responsive. Employing a power-regenerating electric motor, compact lithium-ion battery, Intelligent Dual Clutch System and supercharged 2.5-liter gas engine, only when necessary, the Pathfinder Hybrid will be able to travel up to 526 miles while delivering up to 27 mpg hwy.

This 7-passenger SUV will offer best-in-class spaciousness for passengers and up to 79.8 cu-ft of cargo room to make longer drives more comfortable. With a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, the latest Pathfinder doesn’t lose its ability to pump out the power just because it’s more efficient.

What makes the all-new Pathfinder a hybrid is its intuitive engine technology. The SUV’s electric motor will be powered by a sleek lithium-ion battery that fits under the floor so as not to take up additional space. When the vehicle senses the need, it will engage the 2.5-liter supercharged gas engine, but it will shut down during stops or coasting in order to conserve energy. The vehicle will also receive regenerative braking, which stores and reuses the energy lost in braking to improve efficiency. Finally, the hybrid system rounds out with the Intelligent Dual Clutch System, which manages power usage and helps the vehicle transition seamlessly from the electric motor to the gas engine.
